Château Rauzan-Ségla
A historic Margaux Second Growth, restored to top form since its acquisition by the Wertheimer family of Chanel.
About Château
Château Rauzan-Ségla is one of Margaux's most historic estates, classified a Second Growth (Deuxième Cru) in 1855 and once ranked by Thomas Jefferson among the very finest of its class. Its origins trace to 1661 and the vast Rauzan estate of Pierre des Mesures de Rauzan, an important Bordeaux figure who at times was associated with Margaux and Latour; the property later took the Ségla name. After a long period of relative underperformance, Rauzan-Ségla was acquired in 1994 by the Wertheimer family, owners of the fashion house Chanel, who invested heavily and installed a winemaking team drawn from Château Latour. Quality rose sharply: machine harvesting was abandoned, vineyards were worked plot by plot, and grapes hand-sorted. The wines are classically structured, perfumed Margaux of growing renown. Chanel remains the owner, and the estate is widely seen as fully restored to its First-Growth-era reputation.

Editorial notes
A historic name back at the top of Margaux since the Chanel-era investment; classically structured and age-worthy. A strong choice for those seeking pedigree without First Growth prices.
