Maison Joseph Drouhin
A historic family-owned négociant-grower house in Beaune producing a wide range of red and white Burgundy, with notable estate holdings and a pioneering Oregon outpost.
About Maison
Maison Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most respected family houses, founded in 1880 when 22-year-old Joseph Drouhin arrived from Chablis to set up as a négociant in Beaune. Successive generations transformed the merchant business into a major estate: his son Maurice acquired vineyards, and Robert Drouhin, who took over in 1957, gave the domaine its present scale with grand cru holdings such as Musigny, Griotte-Chambertin, Grands-Échézeaux and Bâtard-Montrachet. The house now owns vineyards across Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, supplemented by négociant purchases, and produces both pinot noir reds and chardonnay whites known for elegance, freshness and restraint. Drouhin farms organically and biodynamically across much of its estate. In 1987 the family extended to Oregon with Domaine Drouhin in the Willamette Valley. Today the fourth generation — Frédéric, Véronique, Philippe and Laurent Drouhin — owns and runs the business.

Editorial notes
A reliable house style of finesse and freshness across the range; the Beaune Clos des Mouches (both colors) is a signature, and grand crus reward cellaring.
