Ornellaia
A benchmark Super Tuscan from the Bolgheri coast, Ornellaia is a Bordeaux-style blend renowned for its richness, structure and international acclaim.
About Ornellaia
Ornellaia is one of Italy's most celebrated Super Tuscan estates, set on the Tuscan coast at Bolgheri overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Established in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori, with its first vintage in 1985, it pioneered Bordeaux-variety winemaking in the region alongside neighbouring Sassicaia. The flagship Ornellaia is a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend incorporating Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, prized for its opulent fruit, fine tannins and ageworthiness, and bottled under the Bolgheri DOC Superiore appellation. After a period involving Robert Mondavi and Constellation Brands, the estate has been wholly owned by the Frescobaldi family since April 2005, trading as Ornellaia e Masseto. Beyond the grand vin, the estate produces the second wine Le Serre Nuove, the more accessible Le Volte and the cult single-vineyard Merlot Masseto. Ornellaia remains a reference point for the quality and prestige of coastal Tuscan reds.

Editorial notes
Cellar the grand vin for a decade-plus; the second wine Le Serre Nuove offers the house style at a friendlier price. Look for the limited-edition Vendemmia d'Artista bottlings in standout vintages.
