Dominus Estate
Christian Moueix's Napa estate on the historic Napanook vineyard near Yountville, producing a Bordeaux-style Cabernet blend of cult standing.
About Dominus
Dominus Estate is built on Napanook, one of Napa's most historic vineyard sites near Yountville, where George C. Yount planted the valley's first vines in 1836. The modern estate began in 1982 when Christian Moueix, of the Bordeaux house behind Petrus, partnered with Napanook's owners Robin Lail and Marcia Smith on a recommendation from Robert Mondavi; the first Dominus vintage followed in 1983, and Moueix became sole owner in 1995. The flagship Dominus is a Cabernet Sauvignon-led Bordeaux blend made in a restrained, structured, long-aging style that reflects Moueix's right-bank pedigree applied to a single Napa terroir. The estate also produces Napanook, its second wine, with combined annual output of roughly 7,500 to 12,000 cases. Housed in a celebrated Herzog & de Meuron stone winery, Dominus stands among Napa's most respected and collectible Cabernet estates.
Flagship wines

Editorial notes
A structured, Bordeaux-minded Napa red built for long cellaring; top vintages reward a decade or more and benefit from decanting.
