Leeuwin Estate
A founding Margaret River estate established in 1973, world-famous for its 'Art Series' Chardonnay, rated among Australia's very finest.
About Leeuwin
Leeuwin Estate was established in 1973 by Denis and Tricia Horgan in Western Australia's Margaret River region, with early guidance from Napa Valley legend Robert Mondavi, who advised the Horgans during the estate's planning. The estate's first commercial vintage came in 1979, and global recognition followed when its 1981 Art Series Chardonnay was acclaimed by Decanter magazine. The Art Series Chardonnay remains Leeuwin's icon, sitting at the 'Exceptional' summit of the Langton's Classification of Australian Wine and frequently cited as one of the country's finest Chardonnays; the estate also produces a respected Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon. Now stewarded by three generations of the founding family, with Justin and Simone Horgan as joint chief executives, Leeuwin remains family-owned and committed to site-expressive, sustainable viticulture. The estate produces around 60,000 cases each vintage from 121 acres of vineyards and is also celebrated for its long-running summer 'Concert Series' on the estate grounds.
