Torbreck Vintners
A benchmark Barossa producer founded in 1994, celebrated for powerful old-vine Shiraz and Rhone-style blends built from dry-grown Barossa fruit.
About Torbreck
Torbreck Vintners was founded in 1994 by David Powell in the Barossa Valley of South Australia, named after a forest in Scotland where Powell once worked. The estate built its reputation on sourcing and reviving parcels of dry-grown old vines, producing rich, concentrated Shiraz and Rhone-inspired blends of Grenache and Mataro (Mourvedre). Wines such as RunRig and The Factor became internationally acclaimed expressions of Barossa power and old-vine character. After a period of financial difficulty in the early 2000s, the estate was eventually acquired in full by American investor Peter Kight in 2008, who also owns Quivira Winery in California's Dry Creek Valley. Peter and Terri Kight remain the owners today. Torbreck produces around 70,000 cases per year and ranks among the most influential names in modern Barossa winemaking, helping define the region's bold, terroir-driven red style for a global audience.
