About Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny is prized for elegance rather than power, frequently described as the most delicate and floral of the great Côte de Nuits communes. Its limestone-rich, low-clay soils produce red Burgundy of finesse, perfume and silken texture — wines that charm young yet age gracefully. The appellation is crowned by two grand crus: Musigny, whose haunting refinement is legendary, and Bonnes-Mares, shared with neighbouring Morey-Saint-Denis. Between them sit twenty-five premiers crus, the most celebrated being Les Amoureuses, whose wines often rival grand cru quality. Domaine Georges Roumier is the standard-bearer here, farming holdings across Bonnes-Mares, Les Amoureuses and the village level with meticulous, terroir-faithful winemaking. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, Chambolle-Musigny defined as an AOC in 1936 occupies a foundational place in red Burgundy for drinkers who value grace, transparency and aromatic lift over sheer muscle.
