Allegrini
A historic Valpolicella Classica family estate, formally established in 1854, renowned for benchmark Amarone made by the appassimento drying method.
About Allegrini
Allegrini is one of the defining names of Valpolicella Classica, with the family rooted in Fumane since the 16th century and the formal agricultural estate established in 1854. The modern reputation was built by Giovanni Allegrini, regarded as one of the great architects of the region's mid-20th-century rebirth. After his death in 1983 his children Marilisa, Walter and Franco carried the quality ethos forward, with Franco perfecting the appassimento drying method central to Amarone. Today the estate, around 150 hectares in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, is run by the next generation: Franco's sons Francesco, Giovanni and Matteo, who hold the majority share, alongside their cousin Silvia. Allegrini is known for its classic Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, its Valpolicella and Ripasso wines, and the single-vineyard La Poja, an unusual 100% Corvina bottling produced in tiny quantities.

Editorial notes
Amarone is rich and high in alcohol; decant and pair with hearty braised dishes or aged cheeses. La Poja is the scarce single-vineyard cuvee.
