About Dominio

Dominio de Pingus was established in 1995 by Danish oenologist Peter Sisseck, who had arrived in Ribera del Duero in 1993 and identified ancient, low-yielding Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) vineyards around the village of La Horra. The flagship Pingus, named after Sisseck's childhood nickname, became an instant cult object when its debut 1995 vintage drew extraordinary critical acclaim, and it remains one of the rarest and most expensive wines in Spain, with annual production typically under 500 cases. Sisseck farms biodynamically and makes the wine with minimal intervention, emphasizing purity and finesse over power. The estate also produces a second wine, Flor de Pingus, and a special cuvée, Ribera del Duero Amelia. Pingus is widely regarded as the wine that signaled Ribera del Duero's arrival on the world stage of fine wine.

Editorial notes

Practical guidance

Pingus is allocation-only and scarce; the more available Flor de Pingus offers a far more accessible introduction to the house style.
